India, US to Conclude $1 Billion Worth Super Hercules Deal

The US and India are concluding a deal worth $1.059 billion, for the sale of six Lockheed Martin C-130J Hercules transport aircraft to India. The purchase signifies a long sought after diversion of India's traditional dependence in Russia, for its transport aircraft. India is currently operating the AN-32 and IL-76 transport aircraft. Earlier this year, New Delhi purchased the ex US Navy landing dock USS Trenton, which will give the Indian Navy amphibious landing capability. Read more on the C-130J in DEFENSE UPDATE.
